Block Club Chicago is a nonprofit news organization reporting news on the neighborhood level in Chicago, Illinois.
History
Three former DNAinfo editors created Block Club Chicago following the shutdown of DNAinfo in November 2017 a week after workers voted to unionize.[1]
When they launched a kickstarter campaign in early 2018, they quickly raised over $183,000 from 3,143 backers.[2] Within 6 months of publishing, the local news site had about 6,000 paid subscribers and over 7 million pageviews.[3]
