Lee Chae-ryeong (Hangul이채령 born June 5, 2001), known mononymously as Chaeryeong, is a South Korean singer and rapper. She is a member of the South Korean girl group Itzy.[1][2]

Early Life[edit]

Chaeryeong was born on June 5, 2001, in Yongin, South Korea. She has 2 sisters, Chaeyeon[3] and Chaemin. She completed her secondary education at Hanlim Multi Art School, majoring in Department of Musical Theatre, graduating in a ceremony held on February 7, 2020 along with bandmate Ryujin.[4]

Career[edit]

2013–2015: K-pop Star 3 and Sixteen[edit]

Chaeryeong appeared for the first time on television along with her elder sister, Chaeyeon, during the 3rd season of K-pop Star. Both her and her sister were eliminated from the show, however they were able to join JYP Entertainment as trainees.[5][6][7][8]

Then in 2015, she participated in Mnet's reality survival show Sixteen, which eventually determined the members of girl group Twice.[9] She was eliminated in the last episode of Sixteen and was unable to debut. Sometime after being eliminated from Sixteen, she continued to train under JYP Entertainment. She appeared in episode 1 of Stray Kids with bandmates including Yeji, Ryujin and Yuna.

2019–present: Debut with Itzy[edit]

On February 12, 2019, Chaeryeong officially debuted as a member of Itzy, with the release of their digital single album, It'z Differentled by the single Dalla Dalla.
