Cottbus II is an electoral constituency (German: Wahlkreis) represented in the Landtag of Brandenburg. It elects one member via first-past-the-post voting. Under the current constituency numbering system, it is designated as constituency 44. It covers the southwestern parts of Cottbus, the most populous being the Spremberger Vorstadt.

Cottbus II was created in 1990 for the first state election. Since 2019, it has been represented by Lars Schieske of the Alternative for Germany (AfD).

Geography

As of the 2019 state election, Cottbus II covers the southwestern parts of Cottbus, namely Gaglow, Kahren, Kiekebusch, Madlow, Sachsendorf, Spremberger Vorstadt and Ströbitz. A lot of these, namely the more suburban Kahren, Groß Gaglow and Kiekebusch were first ceded to Cottbus after German reunification.

Members

The constituency was held by the Christian Democratic Union from its creation in 1990 until 2009, during which time it was represented by Dyrck Schneidenbach (1990–1994), Minister-President of Brandenburg Manfred Stolpe (1994–2002) and future Lord Mayor of Cottbus Frank Szymanski (2004–2006). It was won by The Left in 2009, by Kerstin Kircheis (SPD) in 2014 and by the AfD in the 2019 state election.
