Dean Webb (born Michael Eaton in 1940) is an English rock and roll singer, actor, and composer.
Background
Webb was born in Reading, Berkshire as Michael Eaton. He chose the name "Dean Webb" as his stage name, likely inspired by James Dean and "Harry Webb", the real name of singer Cliff Richard.[1]
Before his singing career, Webb worked as an apprentice blacksmith in Reading. He released a few singles between 1959-1960, but none charted.[1] According to Record Collector magazine, Webb's cover of "Hey Miss Fannie" was a notable example of British rock’n’roll.[2]
Music Career
Webb made two appearances on the show Oh Boy! and was on the same tour as Eddie Cochran when a car crash killed Cochran in Bath, Somerset in 1960.[1] He was a member of The Kirchin Band and composed music for the 1970 film The Wife Swappers.[3]
Acting Career
Webb had a few acting roles in the early 1960s. He played Mike in the 1962 film Some People and appeared in the ITV drama The Human Jungle and Moonstrike.[1]
