Yoon Dowoon (born August 25, 1995)[1], known mononymously as Dowoon, is a drummer and sub-vocalist of the South Korean rock band Day6.
Early life
Yoon was born on August 25, 1995, in Busan, South Korea. He attended Changwon Sangnam Middle School and Peniel High School of the Arts. He has stated on a show that he is Catholic and his baptismal name is Paul.[2] He then attended Busan Arts College, in the Department of Applied Music, to further his studies.[citation needed] He has an older sister.
Career
Dowoon began playing the drums when he was sixteen years old, and was a member of his school band. He auditioned for JYP Entertainment in April 2015, when the company was holding auditions to form a band. He initially passed the auditions to join 5Live (the pre-debut name of DAY6) along with another participant with whom he was practicing, but withdrew due to personal circumstances. He later auditioned again.[citation needed]
He then debuted with Day6 as their drummer after four months of training. The band debuted on September 7, 2015, with their single "Congratulations" and their first EP, "The Day".[3]
Since 2018, Yoon has also participated in vocals with the band, such as in the songs "Beautiful Feeling" (Remember Us: Youth Part 2) and "Wanna Go Back" (The Book of Us: Gravity).
