Finom, stylized as FINOM is a fintech company that provides banking services such as business accounts, invoicing and accounting software integration for freelancers and SMEs through its website and mobile app. Founded in 2019, FINOM is based in the Netherlands[1][2].
The company now operates in Italy, France and Germany.
History
FINOM was founded by the founders of Modulbank, a B2B online bank in Russia. It started out by providing e-invoicing services in Italy and later extended its services along with new features to other EU countries, such as Germany and France in 2020.[3]
In April, 2020 FINOM closed a €6.5m ($7M)[4] seed funding round led by Target Global, with participation from General Catalyst. Further investors include FJ Labs, Raisin founders Tamaz Georgadze, Frank Freund and Michael Stephan, and Ilya Kondrashov, the founder of MarketFinance.
Later in September 2020, FINOM raised an additional $12 million (€10.3 million)[5] to add to its previous seed round of €6.5 million. The total funding raised in 2020 was now €16.8 million, counting both seed and pre Series A rounds. Investors included Target Global (Germany), Cogito Capital (Poland), Entree Capital (Israel), Avala Capital (Germany), Tal Capital (USA) and AdFirst Ventures (EU).
The company primarily used the fresh capital to develop its banking product in France[6], and further expanded to Italy and Germany in 2020 and 2021.
This interest from international investors was based on the previous success of the co-founders of FINOM, as this is the same team that founded Modulbank.[7] The four founders of FINOM are Andrey Petrov, Oleg Laguta, Konstantin Stiskin and Yakov Novikov.[8]
Services
FINOM provides financial services for freelancers and SMEs.
The services include professional business accounts, payment cards (both virtual and physical) and invoicing features, cashback, multi-banking, and billing. The app can be connected to Apple Pay and Google Pay.[9] The company currently operates in Italy as an E-Invoicing service provider.[10]
Company
FINOM is based in the Netherlands and has around 120 employees. FINOM co-operates with Solaris in Germany and with Treezor in France.
