In 2002, IBM has cut 1500 jobs in their microelectronics division.[3]
Sale
In February 2014, a source familiar with the matter has said to The Wall Street Journal that IBM was looking to sell their Microelectronics subsidiary. Analyst Toni Sacconaghi has stated that IBM has manufactured fewer chips for their own products and external customers. Sony and Microsoft have switched from IBM to chips from AMD for their videoconsoles, although they still made them for the Wii series as of 2014.[4][5][6]
