LesserEvil Snacks is a snack food company located in Danbury, Connecticut. The company manufacturers and distributes its own products.[1]

History

LesserEvil was founded in March 2004 in Tuckahoe, New York. Their first products included potato puffs and kettle corn advertised as low-carb. In early 2005, the company shifted from the low-carb line to an all-natural line. In November 2011, the company was sold to Charles Coristine. Charles and his partner Andrew Strife opened a new office in Wilton, Connecticut. The company opened up its first manufacturing facility on Finance Drive in Danbury in 2012. Since then, they have opened a factory on Commerce Ave, an office on Eagle Drive and a warehouse in Brookfield, Connecticut. The company employs approximately 100 people amongst its three locations.[2] In 2018, the company received further backing from InvestEco Capital, a private equity firm focused on sustainability investing.[3]

In April 2022, LesserEvil acquired plant-based energy bar maker R.E.D.D., in an effort to expand its business into the energy bar market.[4]

Media

In 2012, Dr. Oz featured LesserEvil's Chia Crisps as the “Ultimate Snack”.[5] In early 2012, LesserEvil was named the Gluten Free Snack of the Year by the Connecticut Specialty Foods Association.[citation needed] The company was also featured by Rachael Ray,[6] Hungry Girl,[7] and Inc. magazine,[8] among others.

In 2020 the company's holiday products were featured by E News, Forbes and Food Business News.
