Sam Colangelo (born December 26, 2001) is an American hockey player who played two seasons for the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League before being drafted 36th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Colangelo is currently a freshman at Northeastern University.
Early life and high school career
Colangelo was born on December 26, 2001 in Stoneham, Massachusetts.[1] In high school, he attended Lawrence Academy, where he played on the ice hockey team and scored 34 goals with 70 assists.[2]
Chicago Steel
Colangelo played two seasons with the Chicago Steel.[2] In his first season, he scored just three goals.[1] But in his second season he scored 28 goals with 30 assists.[1] Colangelo opted for the NHL draft.[3]
2020 NHL Draft
Colangelo was drafted 36th by the Anaheim Ducks.[2][4] Colangelo is unlikely to see playtime in the NHL for several seasons while he develops.[5]
