Keserwan-Jbeil

Keserwan-Jbeil is a planned Lebanese governorate that was approved in August 2017 but not yet implemented. It was approved during a comprehensive approval of many different new changes in the Lebanese law and government. It will be carved out of the Mount Lebanon Governorate and will consist of Keserwan District (capital Jounieh and Jbeil District (capital Jbeil) and its capital will be Jounieh, which is now Lebanon's second largest city that is not a governorate capital (behind Tyre). Keserwan-Jbeil will be Lebanon's 9th governorate. In the proposed area of the new governorate, the population as of 2015 is 282,789.
