Kfir Gavrieli is the CEO of Tieks, a company that he co-founded in 2008. Based in Los Angeles, Tieks is a growing online fashion brand with a global customer fanbase.

Career[edit]

In 2010 Tieks launched its line of high-end ballet flats, the first luxury pair of shoes designed to fold to fit inside a purse thanks to their patented split-sole design. The shoes come with a portable carrying bag to carry an alternate pair of shoes in. Made of high-quality Italian leather and luxury textiles, these comfortable and portable shoes have classic designs that make the leap easily from work to play. Tieks flats are so wildly popular that even Oprah Winfrey wears and endorses these comfy, versatile, and exceptionally well-made shoes, which cost between $175 and $345. Today, the Tieks line of high-end foldable flats has a worldwide following of loyal customers and the shoes are known for their exquisite materials, fine craftsmanship, and one-of-a-kind design. Tieks, a pioneer not only in shoe design but also in also marketing, was one of the first brands to market its products exclusively through its own website with no brick and mortar stores. Before online shopping was widespread in the fashion industry, Tieks was a market leader. Today, after 10 years of successfully marketing and selling their line of flats solely on the Internet, Tieks has grown into one of the top web-only fashion brands in the world and the company continues to grow.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Kfir Gavrieli had no experience in the fashion business before founding Tieks. Before starting the company, he worked in the hedge fund, venture capital, real estate, and tech industries. Gavrieli earned his BA, MS, and MBA degrees at Stanford University, and currently lives and works in Los Angeles, where he is actively involved in several non-profit organizations.

Philanthropy[edit]

Tieks is committed to supporting women’s empowerment and accomplished this through the Gavrieli Foundation. The Gavrieli Foundation is the largest individual lender in the world on Kiva, an online platform that supports women entrepreneurs living in poverty around the world through microloans. They have donated over $10 million to help empower female entrepreneurs through Kiva.

Press[edit]

Gavrieli, along with Tieks and its boldly simple and effective business model, has caught the attention of such business publications as Forbes (“25 Most Innovative Consumer Brands”), Inc (“30 Under 30”), Entrepreneur (“Top 30 Startups to Watch”), The Oprah Magazine (“The O List”), and several other renowned national publications.
