Khaled Alharbash (in Arabic: خالد الهربش) is a Syrian journalist and liberal activist.
Early life[edit]
Khaled Alharbash was born in 20 July 1993 in the city of Hama in the middle of Syria.
Activity in the Syrian uprising[edit]
In early 2011, Alharbash helped lead the nonviolent protest movement in Hama, a northern city that was once the heart of Syrian revolution. But as the regime responded to the demonstrations there with brutal force and arrested him and many of his friends, and members of his group broke off to join the Free Syrian Army, Harbash found himself drifting away.[1]
He moved to Damascus in 2012, where he has continued to engage in political activism with Building the Syrian State Current (In Arabic: تيار بناء الدولة السورية), a non-violent liberal opposition party whose members organize meetings and democracy-building workshops among Syrian youth in hopes of building an inclusive foundation for a post-Assad government[2] after the Syrian army controlled his city and prevented any demonstration and started working in the political field as media spokesman.[3][4]
During his work with Building the Syrian State Current Alharbash helped many young people who fight with the regime to stop and join the civil movement.[5] and organized many relief campaigns to help people displaced from areas where battles between the Syrian regime and the opposition.
Career[edit]
He started his career life in 2012 working as an news editor at Sham FM radio (in Arabic: شام إف إم) and In 2013 Alharbash he started working as a correspondent for Radio Sawa[6][7] and Radio Rozana,[8] also he wrote with many other Arabic in international website as Raseef22, Center of thought and public affairs.
In 2014 Alharbash started working with Radio Rozana as an editor and community manager where he still working until now, also he work with Al-Monitor as a correspondent.[9] and as a social media consultant for many Syrian media and organizations.
Education[edit]
Khaled Alharbash holds a Bachelor of Law from Al-Baath University in Homs, and a certificate in social training from the British Council, Alharbash speaks German, English and Arabic.
