Khalid Hameed Baig is a renowned Pakistani Newscaster and Radio & TV Broadcaster currently working in Voice of America as a producer and broadcaster. He received a Presidential Pride of Performance award in 1990 for his services. He worked as a newsreader and voice-over artist for around forty decades and received many other honors and awards including Nigar Award for his invaluable services. [1]

Career[edit]

Khalid Hameed was born in Rawalpindi, Punjab Pakistan. His father Mirza Abdul Hameed Baig was from Muradabad, Delhi, from where he migrated to Pakistan. In 1963, he got the opportunity to participate in a children's program on the Radio Pakistan. Baig, first faced the camera on PTV for a TV drama by the late Fayyaz-ul-Haq. In the late '70s, PTV started a news bulletin at 5 pm. He first appeared in the 9 o'clock Urdu news bulletin (Khabarnama) in February 1972. [2]

Khalid Hameed joined PTV Newss in 1972 as newscaster and soon became a household name. He currently based in Washington DC. [3]
