Lieutenant General Khalid Saleh Al-Sabah (born 8 August 1964) is the current chief of general staff of the Kuwaiti Armed forces.[1]

Early life and Education[edit]

Lt Gen Al-Sabah was born in Kuwait and was keen on following in his father's military footsteps, the late General ret. Shaykh Saleh Mohammad Al-Sabah. He graduated from The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1987 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Kuwait Army. His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course (UK,) Military Police Basic Course, Leader’s Weaponry Course, Special Infantry Platoon Commander Course and Leader’s Infantry Weapons Course at the Infantry Battle School, Brecon, Mid-Wales (UK.) He holds a Masters’ degree in Military Art and Science from the Advanced Joint Command and Staff Course (UK.)

Military career[edit]

A career Military Police officer, Lieutenant General Khalid most recently served as Deputy Commander to the Chief of the General Staff. Prior to this, he served as the Commander, Kuwait Land Force (2014); Commander, Kuwait Army Military Police (2010); Commander, MP Battalion (2004); Commander, CID Battalion (2003); Assistant Commander, Military Police Headquarters (1999.) In addition to these assignments, Lt. Gen. Ak-Sabah has served in key leadership positions at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels.

Honours[edit]

His honors include The Sandhurst Medal in recognition of the achievement of those International Students who successfully complete the Commissioning Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and US Legion of Merit for exceptional meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services.
