Major General Khan Firoz Ahmed ndc, afwc, psc is a two-star general of the Bangladesh Army. He is currently the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 7th Infantry Division [1]. He was commissioned in the East Bengal Regiment with the 23rd BMA Long Course on 21st December 1990
Early life and Academics[edit]
Khan Firoz Ahmed was born on 10 April 1969 in Khulna. He completed his SSC and HSC from Khulna Zilla School and Government Sundarban College respectively. While he stood 9th in the Jessore Board.
Khan Firoz Ahmed has completed several military courses both at home and abroad. He graduated from Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur, Bangladesh from April 2003 to February 2004. He attended second Staff College in Command and Staff College, Quetta, Pakistan from January 2005 to December 2005. He attained three Master's degrees on varied disciplines. He completed afwc (2013) and ndc (2021) from National Defense College, Mirpur, Bangladesh. Currently he is working on his PhD degree on Research from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP).
Career[edit]
In his military career he stayed mostly in 66th Infantry Division. As a Major, he was the first Brigade Major of 16 Brigade from March 2004 to January 2005 in Bir Uttam Shaheed Mahbub Cantonment. He was the Commanding Officer of 18 East Bengal from November 2008 to September 2010 in Rangpur Area. Lastly, he also served as Colonel Staff as a senior officer from January 2014 to January 2016 in 66th Infantry Division. As a Brigadier General he commanded 88 Infantry Brigade under 55th Infantry Division in Jessore from January 2016 to March 2017, furthermore he commanded 97 Infantry Brigade under 10th Infantry Division in Alikadam Cantonment from September 2020 to January 2021. In between, he was a successful Defense Advisor to the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations, New York City [2], from May 2017 to August 2020. On the 2nd of December 2021, he was promoted to the rank of Major General and posted as the General Officer Commanding of 7th Infantry Division & Area Commander, Barishal Area
Personal life[edit]
Khan Firoz Ahmed is married to Nazmun Nahar, the Major General is a father of one daughter, who is studying in USA. He also has a son who is in high school.
