King Bawa (July 08, 1992), aka Kheengz is a Northern Nigerian independent indigenous rapper and songwriter.
King Bawa was born in Zaria, Kaduna but was raised in Bida, Niger State.[1]
Education
He obtained his BSc in Civil Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2014.[2]
King Bawa has worked with M.I Abaga, Iceprince, Classiq, DjAb and Dezzell on music occasions.
He featured M.I on the track 'Jealousy' and 'Who Be This Guy' featuring M.I and Falz, which is yet to be released. He has featured Erriga on two of his tracks, 'High School' and 'Kala Kala'.
One of the best rated songs created for the north is 'I AM NORTH' & 'ALMAJIRI'. In 2019, he debuted his 3rd Studio Album 'V.O.A2 (Voice Of Arewa2)' which featured artists like Erigga, Ijaya and DjAb.
King Bawa raps fluently in English and Hausa. 'I AM NORTH', which debuted in 2019, trended number one on Twitter with #1 during the end of February 2019.[3]
Music career
King Bawa started his music career at the age of 18 while in school, releasing his first track 'Foloko Sakun' in Nupe.[4]
In 2013, he released his first album 'Colleges Kit Mix Tape', 'Voice of Arewa vol.1 (VOA.1)' in 2015, 'Pedestal E.P' in 2016 and 'Voice of Arewa 2 (VOA. 2)' in 2020.
'I Am North' was a project topic for students of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the 'Almajiri' song addressed the issue of Northern child abuse due to lack of healthcare by some northern parents.[5][6]
