Khoirul Anwar (born 24 February 1978) is an Indonesian scientist and educator recognized for his significant contributions to wireless communication technology, particularly 4G LTE standards.[1][2] He is an associate professor at Telkom University and serves as the Director of the Center for Advanced Wireless Technologies (AdWiTech).[3]

Academic and technical contributions

Anwar's primary technical achievement is the invention of the double Fast Fourier Transform (Two-FFT) technique.[4] This method enhances data transmission efficiency in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems. His work has been integrated into international technical standards, specifically ITU-R S.1878 and ITU-R S.2173 by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).[5]

In 2025, Anwar was noted for his leadership in global forums regarding the implementation of 6G technology, focusing on quantum-secure communications and high-speed data rates.[6]

Early life and education

Anwar was born into a modest farming family in Kediri Regency. His upbringing as a livestock grass collector (ngarit) is frequently highlighted in national biographies as a foundational period of his discipline.[7] He graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 2000 and obtained his Doctorate from the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) in Japan in 2008.[2]
