Khona Talkie is a internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi film production company that produces film in bengali. Khona Talkies produces independent films and distributes independent films through out the world. Till now, Khona Talkies produces internationally award winning feature films and short films that also critically acclaimed through out the world.
History[edit]
Khona Talkies was Founded as Era Motion pictures in 2008 by Ashique Mostafa and Rubaiyat Hossain. Then in 2011, the first feature film released under this production house was Meherjaan directed by Rubaiyat Hossain. After the release, the film had gone through trouble situation for it's story and content.[1]
Then it converted into the name Khona Talkies that comes from the ancient female poet and astrologer 'Khona'. In 2015, Khona talkies produces bake to bake two films that earns internationally recognitions and several international award. First it produce My Bicycle directed by Aung rakhine. My bicycle is Bangladesh's first indigenous language film and first film on indigenous Chakma community of Bangladesh.[2] It won best Script award at Silver Akbuzat Ethnic Cinema Festival in 2015. Then it produces Under Construction (film) directed by Rubaiyat Hossain that tells the story of three independent women through the art of excellence.
Besides these three feature films it has produced several short films and documentaries those were unique as their own perspective. These films are Poison Throne directed by Farzana Boby, Statement After My Poet Husband's Death directed by Tasmiah Afrin Mou, 720 Degree by Ishtiaque Zico, 20 Continuos Shots bt Abid hossain Khan, Interiors and Exteriors by Ashique Mostafa. All the films are internationally award winning films and Interiors and Exteriors is selected for the pre selection at Academy Award in documentary short subject.[3]
Upcoming Projects[edit]
Eight upcoming feature short and documentary films are lined in. From that four are in post-production those are Birani and Invading Privacy by Ashique Mostafa, The last Post Office by Aung Rakhine and Belonging:Rohigya Refugee Camp by Abid Hossain Khan and the other four are in pre-production those are Shimu by Rubaiyat Hossain, Sand City by Mahde Hasan, Cinema, City and Cats by Ishtiaque Zico and Miraj by Ashique Mostafa.[4]
