Kiev Day and Night (Ukrainian: КИЇВ ВДЕНЬ ТА ВНОЧІ) is a Ukrainian television series based on an adaptation of the 2011 German series Berlin - Tag & Nacht. The show is a "reality soap opera" which stars lead characters Bogdan Sheludyak and Karyna Havrylyuk. It was filmed in Kiev and broadcast on Novyi Kanal from 8 March 2016 to 8 January 2019.[1] [2]The series contained sexual content and the actors sometimes appeared nude, with a fogging system covering their genitalia.[3][4][5] In the fall of 2018, Novyi Kanal decided to stop broadcasting the series, and it was discontinued in 2019 during the fifth season.[6]

The series settled in the Ukrainian capital Kiev,[7] where it shows different aspects of crowds, house complexes and environmental situations in either aerial view or ground. The series director Ksenia Bugrimova said he wanted to film in the capital to demonstrate the relation to everyday life in Kiev. The series' principal photography began on August 2015.[8]

Plot[edit]
Season 1-4[edit]
The show follows a group of five friends - Oksana, Karina, Albina, Bogdan and Sasha - who rent an apartment and want to conquer Kiev. The principal plotline reflects the battle between Oksana and Karina, who is jealous of Oksana and Bogdan's relationship. Karina frequently schemes against Oksana, her then-boyfriend Pasha, and even Bogdan (her favorite love interest). Initiating Oksana as her main enemy, she also harms others through her schemes. She is totally malevolent, and while her unstoppable machinations violate others' relationships, it makes her more eccentric.
Bogdan is a photographer and Oksana's husband. He has sex with multiple women, leaving Oksana devastated. Oksana becomes more interested in Pasha, a caretaker who works in a garage. Her dream is successful and she marries Pasha, but he starts dating other women. Their marriage results in divorce.
Distrusting Pasha, Oksana dates Bogdan again, who impregnates her and she gives birth to the child. Bogdan loves the child and gives great sympathy and protection, even if their relationship is disconcerted. Bogdan continues to have relationships with other women, regardless of Oksana's feelings, and Oksana develops a dislike of him.
In episode 48, Oksana and Sasha spontaneously fall in love, and the two become engaged. In the final episode, Sasha and Oksana marry, alongside Albina and Alexander. Karina and Oksana reconcile, and the full ensemble poses for photos.[10][11][12][13][14]
Season 5[edit]
In August 2018, a reboot of the series premiered, with some original cast members removed.[15][16] Albina, Alexander (in the role of Sasha), Pasha, Max and Nazar remained from previous seasons. There is also character's replacement in this season. In cases, characters Alina, Pauline, Nastia, Yasya and Sam moved from the capital to start a new life, also leaving the series. Additionally, a new character called Maxim "Fizruk" Sosnovsky who is nominated by audience as "Top Model in Ukrainian" played a role in this season. The plot is the same as the first four seasons, including love, disappointment, happiness, friendship. As the previous seasons, there are three friends and want to conquer Kiev.[17]

On the Otzovik website, the series aggregated 80%.[18] Irecommend gave 5 stars while gaining 6 votes. [19]Meanwhile, OTZYVUA gave only 1.4 stars, which is the lowest aggregate recorded.[20]
