According to Russell County District Attorney, the property owner realized that Mullins and his friends were simply on the property “apparently doing mischief” when they were confronted by the shooter [1].
Tywoana Anderson-Jakes, 50 years old, an African American woman, was charged with Capital Murder in connection with the shooting on February 3rd, 2023. According to the Russell County District Attorney, she said 'I shot, and I have a dead 12-year-old boy who was doing something he shouldn’t have been doing'[2].
