Killington Lake Services is a motorway service station on the M6 motorway between junctions 37 and 36 near Killington Lake in Cumbria, England. It was opened in 1972. The services are operated by Roadchef.
History
The services opened on Wednesday 17 May 1972, southbound only, run by BP.[1] Tebay, on the northbound side, 9 miles (14 km) to the north, opened the following month.
It was criticised by Egon Ronay's Cellnet Guide to Hotels and Restaurants in 1989 for both service time and food quality, but defended by its general manager with reference to it having been given Auto Express award for "best motorway service station in the country" earlier that year.[2]
Facilities
It is owned by Roadchef. It comprises a BP petrol station, a Days Inn hotel and a main facilities building with Costa Coffee, WHSmith, and McDonald's.[3]
