Kimberley Vanessa Cheung (Chinese: 張楚瑩; born 27 January 1994) is a Hong Kong foil fencer. She was part of the Hong Kong women's team that won bronze in team foil at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.[1][2]
Cheung has represented Hong Kong at the World Fencing Championships, the Summer Universiade, and the Asian Fencing Championships.[3]
Education
Cheung studied at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), where she majored in biomedical engineering and was on the Dean's List.[4] She was captain of the HKUST women's fencing team in 2013–14.[5] She later completed an MSc in Computing at Imperial College London.[6]
Career
Fencing
Cheung fences for Hong Kong in women's foil. In September 2013 she was on the team that won bronze in team foil at the 2013 East Asian Games in Tianjin, alongside Lin Po-heung, Liu Yan-wai, and Cheng Hiu-lam.[7]
At the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, Cheung, Cheng Hiu-lam, Lin Po-heung, and Liu Yan-wai were on the Hong Kong squad that shared the bronze medal in women's team foil with Japan.[2] HKUST reported that she was ranked first among Hong Kong fencers under 20 and second overall in Hong Kong at the time.[4]
She won team bronze with Hong Kong at the 2014 Asian Fencing Championships in Suwon and again at the 2018 Asian Fencing Championships in Bangkok.[8][9] In 2015 she was named one of Hong Kong's Top 10 Outstanding Youth.[10]
