King Edward VII Hospital is located in Windsor, Berkshire. It is one of the many healthcare establishments managed by Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

History[edit]

The King Edward VII Hospital opened in 1909 at the corner of St Leonard's and Frances Roads, Windsor. The first extensions to the hospital started as early as 1912. In September 1939 the hospital became part of the Emergency Medical Service, and the regional headquarters of the pathological service. In 1948 the hospital was incorporated in the National Health Service, under the administration of the Windsor Group. It was later amalgamated with Old Windsor Hospital, the two sites acting as the Windsor and Old Windsor Units of the King Edward VII Hospital.[1] The Old Windsor wing closed in 1991[2] with services transferred to the remaining Windsor Wing, which is now referred to simply as King Edward VII Hospital.
