Kirei board
Kirei board is an engineered panel product constructed from the stalks of a plant, bamboo being the most widely used, although wheat, sorghum, and even cocoa can be used.
It is more than a particle board because the stalks left over after harvest are first woven tightly and then heat-pressed with a no added urea-formaldehyde adhesive that does not emit toxic formaldehyde. Strong, lightweight, environmentally friendly and sustainable, Kirei Board has been in use for wall coverings, cabinetry, furniture, flooring and other decorative and finished products.
In some cultures it is a decorative material, while in others, it is used as a building wood in cabinets and shelving often covered with a wooden veneer. Kirei board is a soft material, and is often discouraged to use in high traffic areas.
