Kiri is a brand of processed cheese products from the Bel Group created in 1966.
History[edit]
At the end of the 1960s, the Fromageries Bel, who created four decades earlier the brand of processed cheese The Laughing Cow, planned to create the first cheese specially dedicated to children.
The first Kiri portion was created in Sablé-sur-Sarthe in 1966 in the department of Sarthe, after several years of research.[1]
During the 1980s, the cheese brand exported itself, first in Europe, and later in Japan. Kiri also became an essential ingredient of pastry in the Middle East.
Since the 1990s, the Fromageries Bel launched a new Kiri product named Kiri Dippi, consisting of a little tray with bread sticks to dunk in a portion of cheese.
In 2015, Kiri made a growth of 11%.[2]
Ingredients and origins[edit]
Kiri Goûter 4 trays : Processed cheese specialty (71.4%) : cottage cheese, water, cream (23%), milk proteins, cast iron salt : sodium polyphosphates, calcium phosphates, citric acid, salt. Biscuits (28.6%) : wheat flour (73%), sunflower oil, corn flour, corn starch, rice flour, salt, palm oil, leavening agents : ammonium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate, sugar, dehydrated yeast, lactic acid, emulsifier: soy lecithin, pepper, palm oil.
Kiri Goûter 5 trays:[3] Processed cheese specialty (71.4%) : cottage cheese, water, cream (23%), milk proteins, cast iron salts : sodium polyphosphates, calcium phosphates and citric acid, salt. Breadsticks (28.6%) : soft wheat flour, sunflower oil, barley malt, salt, yeast. 102 grams of wheat flour are used to make 100 grams of breadsticks.
Kiri chèvre 8 portions:[3] Cottage cheese with cow milk, cream (32%), water, milk proteins, goat cheese (2%), flavours, cast iron salts : polyphosphates, phosphates and sodium citrate, salt.
The company does not communicate the geographic origins of the agricultural products that are included in the compositions.
