kmtlondon is an English musician, DJ, and record producer. His music often comprises of multiple sometimes opposite genres including alternative rock, hip-hop, electronic, soul and break-beat. KMT plays guitars, bass, keyboard and drums. His original music does not rely on sampling, KMT plays and records all the parts required for backing tracks and features guest vocalists. In addition to his original compositions, he has also produced 113 mashups and 6 remixes.
History
KMT was born in Chichester, West Sussex, England. His mother played the classical guitar, piano and sang in Brighton Festival Chorus. She would often listen to Classical music and Beatles records. His father preferred electronic and world music including Paul Simon and Pete Tong's Essential Mix. During his early years, KMT learnt violin] and classical guitar. As a teenager he then took up electric guitar, bass and drums. He played drums for a band called Runaway Train in the Starfish youth music project,
In 1997 he starting using Dance eJay software to make song ideas. After reaching the limitations of the software, he transitioned to use Acid Pro and began recording acoustic guitar songs. During this time he recorded his first album Making Waves.
He attended the University of Greenwich and was quickly exposed to new and different types of music including UK Hip-hop, UK garage, Drum and bass, R&B and grime.
