KnowMads are an American hip hop group from Seattle Washington. The group currently consists of Tom Pepe, and Tom Wilson.

The name KnowMads comes from the word "nomad," which is a term commonly used to describe a member of a community of people which often move from one place to another. The KnowMads explain that inspiration for name came from the idea of wandering the "planet and our society in search of intelligent life."[1]

History

The KnowMads began making music in their basement at the age of 16, releasing So It Goes in 2006 and Saturdayzed in 2008. By the end of 2009, they officially released Seattle. They then followed up with the 2010 release of their self-titled album, KnowMads, which contained many previously released tracks from both So It Goes and Saturdayzed.

In September of 2011, KnowMads started a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the creation of their next LP entitled The KnewBook, which Tom Pepe described as their official "debut" album. The campaign proved successful, surpassing their goal of $5,000 with a total of $8,560 and 218 backers.[2] In 2012, The KnewBook was finally released and peaked at #7 on iTunes.[3]
