Ashley Nwachukwu (born 12 November 1994),[1] better known by his stage name Knucks, is a British rapper and record producer of Nigerian heritage from South Kilburn, London. He is currently signed to his own independent imprint NoDaysOff and Island Records.[2]
Initially inspired by grime artists such as Ghetts and Dot Rotten, Knucks also draws from hip hop, citing Nas and MF Doom as influences, as well as being inspired by jazz and soul music.[3]
He rose to prominence with the release of his three singles "Los Pollos Hermanos" (2021), "Home" (2019) and "Nice & Good" (2022).
Personal life
Nwachukwu went to school in Harrow. In secondary school, he was given the nickname "Knucks" from his friends due to his ill-disciplined behaviour and how he presented himself. He was sent to Nigeria for a year at the age of 12 because of behavioural issues.
Nwachukwu later returned to England and began rapping professionally and also started producing beats.
He started producing and making beats from the age of 12 on a software called Fruity Loops (now called FL Studio).
Career
His third album Alpha Place (2022) includes features from SL, M1llionz and Stormzy. It also earned him a Daily Duppy that has reached over 500,000 views on YouTube.
