KV & N Co. is the parent company of Kobe Sizzlers & Co.[3]

History

Kobe Sizzlers was founded by Vazir Rizvi and Ramesh Seth in 1975[4] in Mumbai, and is currently the oldest sizzler restaurant in the world.[5][6] They have decades of experience in the fast-food industry.[7]

The legacy of the restaurant dates back to the 1970s when, in 1963, Firoz Irani and his wife started a food joint named ‘The Sizzler’ near Excelsior Cinema. After Irani's death in 1967, his son Shahrookh Irani opened a sizzler restaurant called ‘Touche’ at Breach Candy, but in 1971, he shifted to Pune. With the closure of Touche in Bombay, Vazir Rizvi, a close friend of Firoz Irani, who also used to manage the business at Touche, joined hands with Ramesh Sheth in 1975 to start ‘Kobe Sizzlers’.[8] Its first restaurant started with a 600 square feet restaurant located at Huges Road, near India’s oldest surviving Opera House.[9]

The outlet has also been visited by Rajiv Gandhi.[10]

In December 2017, the restaurant announced it would open its outlet in the US, which was expected to be functional by April 2018.[11][12]

Since its establishment, the restaurant has served over 5 million quality sizzlers and has become one of its kind with its innovative sizzler dishes.[13][14]

In August 2019, Kobe Sizzlers invested $70,000 in Freeze-Dry technology (lyophilisation), the technology used by NASA to preserve food for astronauts, to produce ready-to-make sauce from its secret recipe.[15]

Recognition

In 1983, the restaurant received international acclaim by winning the International Gastronomic Award (“Europe 83”) by El Bar.[16][17]
