Kofi Asmah

Kofi Asmah is a Ghanaian entrepreneur, legal practitioner and external attorney for five banks in Africa, including Standard Chartered Bank based in Johannesburg, South Africa.[1] He is also a Co-chair for the Ghanaian Hungarian Business Council. In June 2022, the City of Philadelphia honored him for his efforts in the promotion of the African Diaspora cause in Philadelphia and globally.[2][3]

Early life and education

Kofi Asmah completed his secondary school education at Achimota School before he proceeded to the University of Ghana to undertake an LLB (law) degree, attended the Ghana School of Law (QCL), and then went to University of Oxford, UK, where he subsequently graduated with honours from the Said Business School.

Career

In October 2017, he was appointed by the Government of Hungary as chairman for the Ghanaian Hungarian Business Council.[4] Kofi Asmah is a member of the American Bar Association, the Ghana Bar Association and the International Bar Association. Kofi Asmah is currently the African Union Forum economic counsellor.[5][6]

His law firm, Gyandoh Asmah and Co, which he co-founded with Professor Emeritus Samuel Gyandoh Jnr., 15 years ago, has offices in Atlanta, Accra and Kumasi in Ghana.

He is also a partner in the Crown Strategy Group, a business investment and development group, which is chaired by the civil rights leader and former Mayor of Atlanta, Andrew Young.

Awards and recognition

Kofi Asmah is a recipient of the FALAS Lifetime Legal Achievement Award.[7][8] Forbes Africa featured him in its November 2019 issue.[9] He was also honored by the Senate of Pennsylvania for his provision of opportunities to African people.[2]
