Kok-Hwa Lie
Kok-Hwa Lie (born 5 March 1975) is a Dutch actor, singer, and writer of Chinese and Indonesian descent. He has performed in theatre, film, and television in the Netherlands and internationally.
Career
In the United Kingdom, Lie appeared in Love's Labour's Lost with the Royal Shakespeare Company,[citation needed] Here Lies Love at the Royal National Theatre,[citation needed] The King of Hell's Palace at Hampstead Theatre,[citation needed] and The King and I at the London Palladium and Dominion Theatre.[citation needed] He also toured with The King and I across the United Kingdom, Ireland, and mainland Europe.[citation needed]
In the Netherlands, his stage credits include Miss Saigon,[citation needed] Rent,[citation needed] Aïda,[citation needed] Mamma Mia!,[citation needed] Jesus Christ Superstar, [citation needed]The Wiz,[citation needed] Ciske de Rat, Petticoat, and Hij Gelooft in Mij. He collaborated with director Char Li Chung at Theater Oostpool in The Banana Generation and later in Madame Butterfly.[1]
In Austria, he played the title role in Der König und Ich (The King and I) at Seefestspiele Mörbisch.[2]
Lie has appeared on Dutch television in productions such as Elixer and Koningshuis The Musical, and in international series including Absentia, Undercover, and Ransom. His film credits include The Takeover and The Conductor. He has also worked extensively as a voice actor.[citation needed]
As a creator and writer, Lie developed Love Me Just a Little Bit More and co-authored the short story collection Modelverhalen. He has also contributed choreography and staging to various productions.[citation needed]
Personal life
Lie is openly gay and lives together with his husband in Amsterdam.[citation needed]
