Kolby LaMarche
Kolby LaMarche (born November 25, 2001[citation needed]) is an Independent politician from Vermont. A former Republican, he served as the Chair of the Burlington, Vermont Republican Party from 2019 to 2021.[1] He also served on Republican Scott Milne's campaign for Lieutenant Governor of Vermont in 2020. He was elected to the position of Chair at the age of 17[2], and served until his resignation in 2021.
LaMarche was an outspoken critic of Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election[3]. After the 2021 storming of the United States Capitol in January 2021, LaMarche called for the Vermont Republican party leadership to resign, arguing that Chairwoman Deb Billado failed to condemn the perpetrators, some of whom were prominent local Republicans[4]
He announced his resignation from the Chair and his departure from the Republican Party in February 2021[5]. LaMarche argued in a resignation letter[6] that the state party had been "hijacked by far-right extremists."[7]
LaMarche currently attends Champlain College in Burlington, VT.[citation needed]
