Koleoso is a Nigerian film series in the Yoruba language. It was created, written, directed, and produced by Ibrahim Yekini, who also plays the main character under the name Itele D Icon. The first part was released on YouTube on 8 May 2025. The series grew to ten parts in total.[1]According to Premium Times and Nigerian Tribune, it became the first single Nollywood film title and the first African film to pass 100 million views on YouTube.[2]
Background
Ibrahim Yekini is a Nigerian actor and filmmaker who appeared in earlier Yoruba films including Jagun Jagun. Koleoso was the first time he directed a multi-part film series released on YouTube.[3]
Story
The series follows the Oso family. The father, Osogbemi, practises dark spiritual arts from Yoruba tradition. He raises his three children, Koleoso, Oshobola, and Efun, and gives them supernatural powers. Koleoso becomes more powerful than the others and eventually stronger than his father.[3]The family comes into conflict with other practitioners. Their main enemy in the early parts is a warlock named Jaweshoro. Later parts add new enemies called Oracle and Iroko. Iroko is described as a creature that comes back to life after being killed.[2]Later parts also introduced a son of Koleoso named Osowande, and the tenth part introduced Ibrahim Chatta as Osopade, Koleoso's great-grandfather.[4]

Release
The first part was released on 8 May 2025. The second and third parts came out in June 2025. The series was first planned to end at seven parts but was later made longer. The tenth part was released in late January 2026.[4]
Views
By late January 2026, the series had over 100 million total views across all ten parts.Parts four to nine each received more than ten million views on their own. The first three parts each had between eight and nine million views.[2]In December 2025, Koleoso appeared among the most-searched film titles in Nigeria that year.[5]
Reviews
Premium Times reviewed several parts of the series. The first three parts received 5 out of 10, with reviewers saying the story was hard to follow for people not familiar with Yoruba spiritual tradition.[3] Later parts received 6 out of 10. Reviewers noted the story became repetitive but kept some interest through its use of Yoruba mythology.[4]
