Isaac Akuaba Kuma Akuffo[1] (born 21 February 1992), who goes by the stage name Koo Ntakra, is a hiplife and hip hop artiste from Ghana who raps in his mother tongue of Akuapem. He was signed to Bullhaus Entertainment in 2014 and known for his several songs, including "Wurewurafuo",[2] "Kofcity Boys",[3] "Berma" and many others. He won MTN Hitmaker[4] in 2013 and was also nominated at Unsung[5] Category in the Ghana Music Awards. He also won Rap Act of the year and Artist of the Year at Eastern Music Awards 2017.[6]
Early life
Koo Ntakra was born to Felicia and Jacob Okyere in Jumapo, Koforidua - Ghana. He attended Jumapo Anglican Primary and Junior High School where he developed an interest in music. He was an instrumentalist in his Junior High school days and also joined the school choir. He used to do rap battles on the streets of Koforidua and was always a winner. From there, he was funded to record his first Demo track in 2005. He attended St Stephen Presbyterian Senior High School at Asiakwa in the Eastern region of Ghana but had to stop because of financial challenges. He moved to Kwabeng Anglican Senior High School to finally complete his Secondary education and be able to focus on his music.
Music career
Koo Ntakra was a contestant in the season 2 of the reality competition show MTN Hitmaker in Ghana in 2013,[7] where he emerged as the overall winner. He was signed shortly afterwards to Bullhaus Entertainment and has gone on to release several singles. He released "Wurewurafuo" which featured Pope Skinny which gained him more attention in Ghana in 2015. He is featured artist like Sarkodie, Edem, Pope Skinny, Keche, Yaa pono and many others. He released his first album - Akuaba Album[8] in 2014 and the second studio album King of Kofcity[9] was released in 2017. He has performed at Legends & Legacy ball, BBnZ Afrobeat Big Weekend, Ghana Meets Naija, Saminifest and others.
