Kovid Mittal is an Indian model turned actor and filmmaker, who predominantly works in Hindi cinema.[1][2] He began his career in modeling and went on to appear in advertisements and films. He has done 12 short films.[1][3] Mittal appeared in numerous music videos, notably in Meri Jannat (2020), Closed Eyes (2021), Tanha, Dill Hoon Tera and Awaara Hoon, Labon Se Baarish (2022).[4]

Early life[edit]

He was born in an army family in Chandigarh, India. His father was in the Indian Air Force. He went to Bangalore to pursue mechanical engineering and later started as a model in Bangalore.[3][5] He is also a karate black belt and national-level swimmer.[1]

Career[edit]

Mittal began working as a model in 2009. He won a modelling pageant, Mr. Youth Bangalore, after which he started getting offers for TV commercials.[3][6] In 2017, Kovid launched his own Men's wear brand, 'Demigods', at India Luxury Style Week, where Bollywood actor Ranjeet for him as a showstopper.[7][8]

He made his acting debut with a short film, Last Birthday, in March 2019.[9] The film won many accolades at film festivals. In 2020, he did a music album, Meri Jannat, in which Babbu Maan gave his voice. In the same year, he appeared in Kanke Mental Asylum, a horror documentary based on ill practices that were followed in mental asylums that are shut now.[1][10] The film won the 2021 Dada Saheb Phalke Awards.[1]

Later, he directed and produced a 90-minute documentary, 6387 Meters Black Peak (2020),[11] which won many awards including the best cinematography award at the Canadian Film Festival 2021.[1][12] While shooting the film, 6387 Meters Black Peak, Mittal set a world record for scaling the Kalanag in a minimum record time of six days, situated at 6387 meters above sea level.[13][2]

In 2021, he appeared in the film, The Unknown released on the OTT platforms including MX Player and Airtel Hungama.[14][15] He was featured in a music video of Altaaf Sayyed and Omer Inayat called Closed Eyes (2021).[13] In April 2022, he appeared in the music video, Labon Se Baarish, followed by The Kashmir Song - Khoon Ke Ansoo in June 2022.[16]
