He is currently signed to Provogue Records/Mascot Label Group.[1] In January 2018, he joined the Los Angeles-based super group Supersonic Blues Machine as their new frontman. Biography

Born in Torquay, Devon, Kris Barras grew up influenced by his father, Paul Barras, who was also a musician himself. Through his father’s love of Classic Rock and Blues, Kris was listening to artists such as Gary Moore, B.B. King, Deep Purple, and the Rolling Stones from an early age. Barras picked up his first guitar aged just five[2] and performed his very first live show at the age of nine.[3] Like most musician teens, he played in several different bands throughout school and upon leaving college, became a full-time guitar tutor and musician.

At the same time, Barras was also training in Muay Thai and mixed martial arts, and although his music career saw him playing in various bands, touring the U.S. and UK, he also found himself competing in professional MMA bouts and Muay Thai fights.[4] In August 2014, after competing in over 20 professional fights, Kris decided it was time to retire and concentrate on training other fighters. Early 2015 saw Kris writing songs again and he formed the Kris Barras Band, performing a mixture of Southern Rock, Blues and Country styles.

After releasing a self-titled demo EP in 2015, he recorded his first full length album ‘Lucky 13’ on 24 April 2016.[5] The album was self-released and recorded by Kris in his own studio in Torquay, Devon. The album received critical acclaim and was described as a “fast-paced powerhouse of Rock”.[6] This led to the band performing at several large festivals including the 37th Rawa Blues Festival in Katowice, Poland,[7] Ramblin’ Man Fair in Maidstone, UK alongside ZZ Top, Extreme, Rival Sons and UFO.[8]

On 4 December 2017, it was announced that Kris had signed to Provogue/Mascot Label Group[9] and subsequently released his first album on label ‘The Divine and Dirty’ on 23 March 2018.[10] The album reached number 3 in the Official Charts UK Jazz/Blues and number 72 in the UK iTunes charts for all genres.[11] The album won “Best Album” in the 38th European Blues Awards.[12] The band were the winners of the “Best New Band’ in the 2019 Planet Rock Radio “The Rocks’ 2019 awards.[13] Kris was invited to perform a live session consisting of two songs on the BBC Radio 2 Michael Ball show. Michael was unable to attend so the show was presented by stand-in host, Richard Madeley. Kris performed acoustic versions of his own song ‘Hail Mary’ as well as a cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘All Along the Watchtower’.[14]

The success of this album led to tours with artists such as Beth Hart, Joanne Shaw Taylor and GUN. Kris was featured as one of "The 17 Best Blues Guitarists in the World". He was voted number 13, alongside names such as Joe Bonamassa, John Mayer, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Derek Trucks and Eric Gales.[15]

In May 2019, Kris toured as part of the "Rockin’ the Blues" Festival alongside Jonny Lang and Walter Trout. The three artists each played their own set before joining on the stage for a jam at the end of the night. The tour dates took place in the UK, Germany and Netherlands. Kris also featured on the "Rockin’ The Blues" CD release to coincide with the tour.[16] Kris was also invited to join Black Stone Cherry on their Summer tour of the UK/Ireland as their special guest.[17]

On 13 September 2019, Kris released his third studio album, 'Light It Up' Released through Provogue Records, the album reached number 49 in the Official UK Charts as well as Number 1 in the Official Charts Company  'UK Independent Album Breakers' Chart.[18]
