Kristen Alff

Kristen Alff (born 7 August 1977) is an American historian and an Assistant Professor at the Department of History at North Carolina State University. Alff is a specialist in the history of the Middle East and North Africa and the global political economy.[1]

Background

Alff received a B.A. from Boston University in 2001, an M.A in Middle East Studies, The American University in Cairo, Egypt in 2009 and a PhD in History from Stanford University.

Awards and honors

  • National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship (2023–2024) – research and writing support for the book project Levantine Joint‑stock Companies and Global Capitalism, 1830–1930.[2]
  • Summer Residency Award, National Humanities Center (June 2022).[3]
