Kristina’s Broadway Connection
Kristina's Broadway Connection is a training centre for dance and musical performers in Vienna-Leopoldstadt, Austria.
History[edit]
The experienced musical performer, choreographer and trained dance teacher KrisTina Decker founded the Broadway Connection in 2003 as a dance studio for children and teenagers, and the Broadway Dance Academy (today Broadway Academy of Musical Theatre) as a professional training centre for musical performers. The tradition of the Kinder Musical Company, whose artistic director KrisTina Decker was for many years, was continued in the Broadway Company as a first playground for young, aspiring musical performers.
The origin of the name Broadway Connection lies in the North American roots of KrisTina Decker, as well as her first major job as a musical performer in Cats, U.S.A.
Dance Studio[edit]
Here children and teenagers are regularly taught in the dance styles ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, acro, hip hop, etc. The hobby classes are aimed at beginners and dancers who only want to dance 1-2 times a week. The competition classes consist of a more intensive dance training in numerous styles several times a week and regularly compete in national and international dance championships. The competition classes also perform at events such as balls, city festivals, etc.
In summer, Kristina's Broadway Connection offers workshops in many styles. As part of the WienXtra Ferienspiel children and teenagers have the opportunity to experience dance and musicals at very low prices.
Broadway Academy of Musical Theatre[edit]
After a successful audition the students learn dancing, singing and acting in a 4-year training course as preparation for a musical career. The training concludes with the stage exam before the Paritätische Kommission of the Musical Department.
Numerous graduates of the Broadway Academy today work successfully as musical performers or actors on Austrian and international stages.
Broadway Company[edit]
Every year, the Broadway Company allows many company members to get a taste of the world of musicals when they work with professional artists to create a musical and perform it in front of an audience. Like the big ones, the young company members must also successfully pass the audition and re-call before starting the training.[1]
