From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Kristo Langker is an Australian screenwriter and producer, best known for his role as the writer and producer for Australian YouTube creator Jordan Shanks-Markovina, otherwise known as Friendlyjordies.

Controversy[edit]

On the 19th of April 2021, Langker, along with Shanks, was involved in a confrontation with New South Wales deputy premier John Barilaro at a public social function at Macquarie University. Video of this encounter was subsequently published two weeks later on the 3rd of May. In the video, Shanks is seen dressed up as Luigi, a fictional character who is part of the Mario Bros. franchise. Langker and Shanks approach and attempt to question Barilaro about a threatened defamation lawsuit against Shanks. The pair are met with aggression from members of the university, and are asked to leave multiple times, but continually refuse on the basis that it is a public event. Shanks is eventually grabbed by two members of security and escorted from the function, while Langker continued to interact with Barilaro, who eventually says that the lawsuit will be going ahead.[1]

On the 31st of May, the Friendlyjordies YouTube channel released a video titled 'The Lawsuit Begins???', revealing that several media outlets including The Age and The Guardian published articles indicating that Shanks was being sued for defamation by John Barilaro. Shanks noted in this video that he had not received any documents pertaining to this alleged lawsuit, and was surprised by the media's knowledge of the case.[2]

On the 3rd of June, a video titled 'We Called John Barilaro's Lawyer' was published to the YouTube channel. In this video, Langker is seen to call lawyer Paul Svilans of Mark O'Brien Legal multiple times, stating that he, along with Shanks, have not received correspondence regarding the claims being made against them. Svilans proceeds to repeatedly hang up the calls, eventually starting to ignore them altogether.[3]

On the 14th of June, a video simply titled 'arrested' was published to the Friendlyjordies YouTube channel.[4] In this video it is revealed that on the 4th of June, Langker was arrested by officers from the New South Wales Police Force Counter Terrorism and Special Tactics Command Fixated Persons Unit.[5] Langker was charged with two counts of stalk or intimidate intending to cause fear of physical or mental harm. This arrest occured at Langker's residence, after he had earlier been walking back from a university class and happened to encounter Barilaro. Langker approached Barilaro and attempted to return the lawsuit papers to him, citing an error in Barilaro's specified address. This video was met with immense public support, with concerns being raised about the potential abuse of power from Barilaro and the deeper consequences of this behaviour from politicians.
