Krisztian Balog is a Hungarian computer scientist, notable for his work on semantic search and the development of novel methodologies for evaluating information retrieval systems. He is a professor at the University of Stavanger[1] and staff research scientist at Google.[2] He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Amsterdam in 2008, and MSc degrees in Computer Science from the Eötvös Loránd University in 2005 and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2004.[3]
Balog was the recipient of the 2018 Karen Spärck Jones Award in recognition of his work on semantic search and novel evaluation methodologies.[4] He is an elected member of the Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences.[5]
