Ku Seman Ku Hussein (born 10. 01. 1960, Kangar) – Malaysian journalist, film critic, and popular blogger.

Short biography[edit]

In 1984, he joined the Malaysian newspaper "Utusan Melayu" (later "Utusan Malaysia") where he worked for 32 years, reaching the position of an editor. He left the newspaper in March 2016 due to disagreement with the policy of the ruling party UMNO, to whom this newspaper belonged.[2] At the same time, he rejected the post of executive director of the newspaper's publisher Utusan Group.[3] He was a political observer, led under the pseudonym Awang Selamat his rubric on topical political issues "Notes of Awang Selamat". He wrote a lot about culture, literature, theater and cinema. In 2013–2016, he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Academy of Arts Culture and Heritage of Malaysia (ASWARA). After leaving the newspaper, he became a popular blogger. From 27 September 2018 to 3 May 2019 he kept the column "From the Summit" in the same newspaper (published about 30 articles).
