Eugene Marfo known by performing name Kuami Eugine,(born in 1999) is a highlife and afrobeats singer-songwriter from Ghana. He is signed to award-winning record label Lynx Entertainment and is best known for his hit singles Angela and Confusion.[1] He is also the 2018 Ghana Music Award winner of the 'Best New Artiste' and 'Best Highlife Artiste' awards. Born Eugene Kwame Marfo on 1 February 1997 to Alex Marfo and Juliana Marfo[3], Kuami Eugene’s passion for music led him to sing in church from a young age where he also learnt to play the drum, keyboard and guitar.

Early beginnings and breakthrough[edit]
Kuami Eugene entered the MTN Hitmaker competition in Ghana in 2016 and went on to finish second-runner up.[4] He was signed shortly after the music competition to Lynx Entertainment and has gone on to release several hit singles such as ‘Boom Bang Bang’, ‘Angela’[5], 'Adwenfi'[6] and ‘Confusion’.
Artistry[edit]
Kuami Eugene has written and produced for a number of award-winning Ghanaian musicians including MzVee, Becca and Adina and has featured on hit singles with Mayorkun, DJ Vyrusky, Shatta Wale and Ko-Jo Cue. He has mounted several stages including Sarkodie's 2017 Rapperholic Concert,[7] Ghana Music Honours 2017 Edition, December to Remember 2017,[8] S Concert 2017,[9] the 61st Ghana Independence Celebration Show at Indigo 02 in London.[10]
Kuami Eugene received 5 nominations[11] at the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards including 'Song of the Year’, 'Highlife Song of the Year' and ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ and went on to win the awards for 'Artiste of the Year' and ‘Highlife Artiste of the Year’[12] in April 2018.

Kuami Eugene entered the MTN Hitmaker Competition in Ghana in 2016 where he quickly became a huge hit with both the fans and the show’s judges.[3] He went on to finish second-runner up in the season finale and was signed shortly after to the award-winning Ghanaian record label Lynx Entertainment.[4] He rapidly became one of the fastest rising stars in Ghana in 2017 with the release of hit singles ‘Ebeyeyie’, ‘Hribaba’, ‘Show Dem’ and ‘Boom Bang Bang’ but it was the release of his single ‘Angela’ that he consolidated his place in the Ghanaian music industry.[5]
