Nana Yaw Kumi widely known as Kumi Guitar (born May 16) is a Ghanaian musician, his music style mixes high-life and afro-fusion. He went to Adisadel College for secondary school. His single *Break Into Two* featuring Gurunkz helped him be nominated for new artist of the year at the 2014 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. He was on Slip Music Records.[1]

Life & Career[edit]

His approach is to write songs that tell a story. He has said that it is more important for music to carry a message than for it to follow current trends.[2] He also said that the only genre of music he plans to pursue is Highlife. [3]

He revealed that he was threatened to be shot by a colleague musician, Virgin Pozo, who accused him of stoled his lyrics line 'Bo ne de' without doing the needful.[4]

In 2018, he beats the likes of KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Wutah Kobby, King Promise and others to win the Highlife Artist of the year category at the Ghana Music Awards UK held in London.[5]
