Kumospace is a virtual office software company for remote work, headquartered in New York City, NY, United States.

History[edit]

Kumospace was founded by Yang Mou and Brett Martin.[1][3] The latter was heavily influenced by multiplayer online role-playing games such as World of Warcraft when developing the online platform,[4][5][6] with virtual rooms, where users can navigate a stylized lo-fi graphics simulation of a physical office with features such as chairs, coffee tables, and conference rooms.[7][8][9]

The platform increased its active user base 100 times between August 2020 and March 2021,[10] and eventually the software company was officially launched on November 1, 2020. A few weeks later, Boldstart Ventures made the first payment.[11]

Funding[edit]

In April 2021 Kumospace received $3 million in seed funding led by Boldstart Ventures.[12][13] Kumospace closed a $21 million Series A round led by Lightspeed in August 2022.[1][14][15]
