"Kusumber Putra" is the first song written and composed by Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in 1937.[1][2] Jayanta Nath recorded the song as a tribute to him on his 92nd birthday.[3]
Composition
The song was written and composed by Bhupen Hazarika at the age of eleven.[4] It was his tribute to Assamese polymath Srimanta Sankardev composed in a devotional manner. [5]It was not recorded in any form and had many versions transmitted orally, creating confusion.[2] In 2018, Jayanta Nath recorded the song with the help of family members and close friends of Bhupen Hazarika. Live performances
The song was performed live by Jayanta Nath on the "Abhimat" show of Pratidin Time on 7 September 2018, the eve of Bhupen Hazarika's birthday. The next day, it was officially released on YouTube.
