Kuwait Champions Challenge is a new friendly tournament created by KFA and the Kuwait Public Authority of Sport. It was created to honour the re-opening of Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.[1]
The 2015 edition was the inaugural tournament, held between a World XI and Kuwait XI. This would be the only time the tournament was contested by two non-official teams.
The first edition was developed in conjunction with Football Champions Tour.
System
The first edition featured Kuwait XI, where fans voted for Kuwaiti players to play the match against a World Stars XI coached by Carlo Ancelotti. Carlo Ancelotti was the first guest announced as manager of World Stars XI, alongside Mohammed Ebrahim as manager of Kuwait XI.[2]
