Kyle Albertson

Kyle Albertson is an American operatic bass-baritone from Ankeny, Iowa.

Career[edit]

Albertson performed in 2018 the role of Wotan in Wagner’s Die Walküre, in Jaap van Zweden final performance with the Dallas Symphony Theater.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Albertson performed at the Lyric Opera of Chicago Das Rheingold,[7] and the role of Donner in Minnesota Opera’s production shortly thereafter.

In April 2018, he covered Wotan in Francesca Zambello’s production of Der Ring des Nibelungen for San Francisco Opera, sang De Guiche in Cyrano by David DiChiera with Opera Carolina,[8][9] Sharpless in Madama Butterfly with New Jersey Festival Orchestra, Sam in Trouble in Tahiti with Opera Parallel at SFJazz,[10] JP Morgan in the World Première of Tesla with SoBe Arts in Miami, and returned to the Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice as Escamillo in Carmen.[11]

Additional roles in his repertoire include Pizarro in Fidelio,[citation needed] Jochanaan in Salome,[citation needed] the title role in Der Fliegende Holländer,[citation needed] Scarpia in Tosca,[citation needed] Jack Rance in La Fanciulla del West,[citation needed] and Claggart in Billy Budd.[citation needed]

Future engagements will include a return to the Lyric Opera of Chicago for their production of Siegfried,[citation needed] a house debut with San Diego Opera to perform the role of Sparafucile in Rigoletto,[citation needed] a reprisal of his performance as Lieutenant Horstmayer in Kevin PutsSilent Night with Arizona Opera,[12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21] and his European house debut.[citation needed]

He first joined The Metropolitan Opera roster for Don Giovanni and returned for five consecutive seasons in their productions of Le Nozze di Figaro, Die Zauberflöte, Dialogues Des Carmélites, The Merry Widow, and Manon.[citation needed]
