Kyle Bradley Matthews is an American Businessman, Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Matthews Real Estate Investment Services™.

Early Life[edit]

Kyle Matthews was born in Los Angeles, California on May 26, 1982, the oldest of four sons to Leslie and Clay Matthews Jr. Kyle Matthews attended Westlake High School in Westlake Village, California.[1]. He enrolled at the University of Southern California studying International Relations and Affairs, where he played safety for the USC Trojans football team. Kyle was a letterman award winner for the USC Trojans 2003 National Championship football team under head coach Pete Carroll[2].

Kyle Matthews entered real estate immediately out of college, accepting a position as an associate at Marcus & Millichap in late 2004[3]. Kyle Matthews was promoted to Senior Associate in 2007, Associate Vice President in 2009, and Vice President in 2011. Kyle Matthews joined Colliers International as Senior Vice President in 2013[4] and was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2014. In early 2015, he left Colliers International to launch Matthews Real Estate Investment Services™, which he led to become a top ten brokerage company in the United States within five years of its founding[5]. A member of the Matthews family of football players, he is the son of former NFL Linebacker Clay Matthews Jr., nephew of Pro Football Hall of Fame offensive lineman Bruce Matthews, brother of NFL Pro-Bowl linebacker Clay Matthews III, and cousin to NFL Pro-Bowl offensive lineman Jake Matthews. The family has a history of professional football players. His grandfather, Clay Matthews Sr., and father were both former NFL linebackers. Both brothers, current NFL All-Pro and Pro Bowl linebacker Clay Matthews III, and former NFL linebacker Casey Matthews, were All-Americans in their time in college. His uncle, Bruce Matthews, is a Pro Football Hall of Fame offensive lineman. Other family members involved in football include Kevin Matthews, Jake Matthews, and Mike Matthews.[3]

During his freshman year at USC, Kyle Matthews was credited for helping save a woman’s life who had fallen out of her dorm room window. The LA Times wrote a front page article[6] and Kyle also appeared as a guest on Good Morning America.

Professional Career[edit]

After graduating from USC, Kyle Matthews entered the commercial real estate business as an investment sales broker at Marcus & Millichap[3]. Kyle Matthews was employed by Marcus & Millichap from 2004 to 2012, where he held the titles of Associate, Senior Associate, Associate Vice President of Investments, and Vice President of Investments[7]. One of his deals while working at Marcus & Millichap was the $13.6 million, 41,578 square foot Social Security Administration building in Burbank, CA[8]. Kyle Matthews then moved on to Colliers International as Senior Vice President. He went on to become Executive Vice President of Retail Investments and held that position from 2012 to 2015. While at Colliers International, he mentored a group of eight new agents, all of which went on to become million dollar producing agents within four years of their hire date. By the end of his time at Colliers International, Kyle Matthews had over 30 agents and employees working in some capacity within his sphere of influence. During his leadership, Kyle Matthews closed over 110 transactions in 2014 and was named the #1 broker at Colliers International globally[9].

Kyle Matthews founded Matthews Real Estate Investment Services™ in 2015, where he serves as the Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer[10]. In the first year, the company experienced internal employee growth of 500%[11]. In 2017, Matthews™ closed nearly $2 billion in transactions, increasing the annual revenue by more than 6,015% from 2015[12]. The company has closed 4,000 transactions totaling $16 billion and created nearly 200 partnerships since it’s inception[13]. With a company culture rooted in strong work ethic, the company has grown, hiring 20 employees and 70 brokers in 2019[14]. At the beginning of 2020, Matthews™ expanded its services to better serve Eastern U.S. clients and markets with a new Nashville, TN office, and an expanded Cleveland, OH office[15]. They opened another location on June 1st, 2020, in Phoenix, AZ[16]. The company has multiple office locations throughout 10 major markets across the nation, including Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas, and more[17].

Professional Accomplishments[edit]

Kyle Matthews ranked as the top producing agent of over 6,000 worldwide in 2014[18]. In 2015, Kyle Matthews was awarded GlobeSt.Real Estate Forum’s Top Retail Sales Broker Award[19]. Kyle Matthews was named as one of GlobeSt.’s Top Influencers in Retail for 2018[20]. In 2019 Kyle Matthews was awarded 50 under 40 by GlobeSt.[21]. His leadership has been recognized with awards for Best Bosses in CRE by GlobeSt. for 2017[22] and 2020[23]. For nine consecutive years, Matthews™ has been awarded the CoStar Power Broker Award, which recognizes and distinguishes the top commercial real estate firms and brokers in the U.S. and Canada who achieved the highest transaction volumes and leases in their respective markets[24][25]. Matthews™ was awarded GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum's Best Places to Work for both 2018[26] and 2020[27]. Commercial Property Executive recently highlighted Matthews™ leasing and investment sales activity, ranking the company in the list of the 10 Most Powerful Brokerage Firms in 2020[28]
