Kellenberger has specalized in the development and production of numerically controlled high-precision grinding machines and systems for the application in the field of medium and high technology.[1]
The company manufactures universal and cylindrical grinding machines for external and internal cylindrical grinding of small and medium-sized parts. These machines are used in the high-precision manufacturing of proto-types as well as for small-, medium- and large-series manufacture in the sectors mechanical engineering, tool and mold making, automotive and electrical industries, hydraulics, Aerospace, precision and tool-making industry.[2]

1917 Leonard Kellenberger founded a mechanical workshop for the manufacturing of grinding machines in his hometown St. Gallen. 1918 L. Kellenberger & Compagnie launched the first self-developed universal grinding machine, 1920 the first surface grinding machine and a special-purpose grinding machine for the overhaul of car engines, 1922 the first crank shaft grinding machine.
In 1960 Kellenberger specialized in universal cylindrical grinding machines. Today, Kellenberger is one of the leading product brands for Hardinge Inc., and joins other grinding product brands like Voumard, Hauser, Tschudin, Usach and Jones & Shipman.[3]
Hardinge Inc., based in Berwyn PA,USA, is a machine tool manufacturer with locations in North America, Europe and Asia. [4]
