Laxmi Datt Sharma, popularly known as LD Sharma is an Indian entrepreneur and the founder of Shoogloo Group.
Early life and education
Laxmi Datt Sharma, known as LD Sharma, was born in Mandhara village, Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh. He received his early education at a local village school. After completing his schooling, he joined the Indian Army, serving with the Bengal Engineers Group. Following his military service, Sharma pursued higher education, earning an MBA with a specialization in Marketing and E-commerce from IIMS Jaipur in 1997.
Career
In 2006, Sharma introduced Deal Group Media Plc (DGM India) to the Indian market, marking the inception of affiliate marketing in the country. The following year, he launched Shoogloo Network, which later evolved into Shoogloo Group. Shoogloo has since expanded into various sectors, including AgroTech, petroleum, and cybersecurity, with a presence in over 90 countries.
In 2015 John Porter used his holding company i-Spire to acquire a 50% stake in digital marketing firm of LD Sharma i.e. Shoogloo.
In October 2023, after a decade-long partnership, Sharma acquired 100% ownership of Optimise India, rebranding it as Shoogloo Network. This strategic move marked his exit from the Optimise Group and underscored Shoogloo's commitment to expanding its global footprint.
Investments
Sharma has made personal equity investments in private companies and business partnerships such as Woollyfarms, Flickstree, Omnify, Redbasil, SpeEdLabs and Sirmouri. He is a member in the investing firms of Mumbai Angels and GSF.
Personal life
He runs the Shoogloo Group & is actively involved in various business ventures and philanthropic activities. In addition to his business ventures, Sharma is actively involved in various philanthropic activities. He contributed to the development of the Rottam Lal Memorial Club to honor martyr Rottam Lal.
